Description

Basic experiments on passive and active circuits, transmission lines and antennas at high frequencies, as well as introduction in high-frequency measurement. Topics of the different experiments are: transmission and reflection coefficients of filters, noise in linear circuits, vector network analysis, tunable matching transformers, measurement with the impulse-reflectometer, functional principles of spectrum analyzer and continuous wave radar ("CW-radar"), as well as characteristics of several mixer components and its application in a superheterodyne receiver ("superhet").

Prerequisites

Fundamental terms of high-frequency engineering: transmission line theory and electricity. Higher Mathematics 1 & 2. Successful conclusion of Module EI0609 "Einführung in die Hochfrequenztechnik" ('Introduction to High-Frequency Engineering') is highly recommended.
