Matthias G. Ehrnsperger began his career in electrical engineering with a combined academic and vocational training programme for electronics technicians for devices and systems in 2006. The programme was carried out in cooperation with DEHN + SÖHNE GmbH & Co.KG in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, Bavaria. In 2009, he was honored as the best electronics technician for devices and systems in Germany by the former Federal President of Germany, Horst Köhler.
In 2011, Matthias Ehrnsperger started his academic studies at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Regensburg (OTH Regensburg). He completed a semester of field research on non-linear optics at the Nonlinear Physics Centre (NLPC) at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra, Australia. His research project was supervised by Prof. Dragomir Neshev and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Roland Schiek, and the results were presented at the Centre for Ultrahigh Bandwidth Devices for Optical Systems (CUDOS) conference. He wrote his Bachelor thesis on the statistical analysis of electrodynamic discharge in cooperation with Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH (MR) in Regensburg, obtaining the highest distinctions. He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in electrical and communications engineering in 2015.
He conducted his graduate studies at the Technical University Munich (TUM) in the field of electrical and communications engineering with a specialisation in electromagnetics, microwave engineering and measurements. During this period, he returned to the NLPC in Australia to participate in another research project. He obtained his Master’s degree at the Chair for High-Frequency Engineering within the TUM Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His thesis “Design and Investigation of Compact Antenna Arrays with Decoupling and Matching Network” focused on Next Generation Mobile Communication (NGMC) and 5G. The thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Eibert and received the highest distinctions. In 2017, he graduated with a Master of Science (M.Sc.) with high distinctions.
In 2017, he enrolled in an engineering doctorate degree on Living Object Detection (LOD) and Foreign Object Detection (FOD) using novel radar structures and systems. His research is being conducted at the TUM in cooperation with a major German automotive supplier.
